The first rule you should know when looking for the right shade for you is simply just to try them on. When it comes to the color red, a hand test will not work. Put them on your lips and get second opinion to make sure that you’re choosing the right shade for you.
Another way is to find if you have warm, neutral or cold skin tone. It is pretty simple to determine which skin tone you belong. Grab a pice of paper, white paper, and hold it against your wrist in a natural light. If your wrist gives orange undertone, that means you have a warm skin tone. Orange-red lipstick is best with gold tinted undertones. You can also try bright tomato red. If your wrist gives a yellow or peach color, that mean you belong to the Neutral skin tone group. If it turns pink or blue, that means you have a cool skin tone. Lean towards plum and pink shades of red and darker red such as that of blackberry if you have a cool skin tone.
